Book Clubs

We have two book clubs, one in the daytime, the other in the evening. Each club reads a wide variety of books, ranging from fiction to non-fiction to classics and popular.

The Morning Book Group meets at 11AM and the Evening Book Group meets at 7PM, once a month. The dates will be determined by the club members.

Both book clubs meet on the main level of the library. Please contact the library at 201-262-2613 or email Adult Services Librarian Orla Cassidy at orla.cassidy@oradell.bccls.org for more information about the book clubs.

Note to Book Clubs: When choosing a book, please try to pick an older book or one that is not currently popular.  If you choose a popular new book, many libraries may have copies of it, but they may be all checked out and/or on reserve for their own patrons.

In addition, BCCLS policy states that libraries should not request books from other libraries until they are at least 6 months old.  Please check the BCCLS web site to see if the book you chose is AVAILABLE at several libraries, before you choose it for your book club.

Bring your favorite dish!

In addition to the two Book Clubs, Oradell Public Library offers a Cookbook Club, usually on the third Tuesday of each month.

Each participant is asked to pick a recipe from the chosen book; to make one regular sized recipe, so each member gets a taste; to respond by email each month with the recipe to be made; to prepare the recipe at home; and to join in the session at which the participants will discuss the book, the recipes, and the author’s style, while enjoying the recipes the others made.

Registration is required. Please contact the moderator at (201) 262-2613 or by email at andrea.sisti@oradell.bccls.org for more information about the Cookbook Club.

The Friends of the Library very nicely cover the cost of paper goods for the club, and we thank them for their support.
