POLICY AND PROCEDURE REGARDING THE USE OF THE YOUNG ADULT ROOM OF THE ORADELL PUBLIC LIBRARY
- Patrons must be in grade six or above to use this room. It may be used by adults only when young adults are not in the library, at the discretion of the library staff.
- Patrons will not be allowed to eat or drink in this room.
- Disruptive conduct is defined as loud talking, rude language, running, pushing, arguing, abuse of library property and being rude to staff members or patrons. If these behaviors occur, the staff will warn the patron to stop the behavior.
- After two warnings and parental notification either by mail or email, the patron will be restricted to sitting in an area of the library where the circulation staff can see the patron. The patron therefore cannot sit in the YA room, the picture book room or the craft area.
- If the patron receives a third warning, a parent or guardian will be called to pick up the patron. The patron will not be allowed to come to the library for one week after the incident.
- The following behaviors constitute a zero tolerance reply: fighting, destroying library property and injuring another patron. In this case, the parent must be immediately notified by phone and the patron must be picked up by the parent as soon as possible. The patron will not be able to return for two weeks.
