All Oradell residents age five and up are entitled to a free library card. Identification with proof of residency is required when applying for a card. A few examples of acceptable identification include:
- Current driver’s license
- Utility bill
- Rent/mortgage statement
Children under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present to sign up for a library card. Patrons are responsible for all items checked out with your card. If you are the parent or guardian of a child under the age of 18, you are also responsible for materials borrowed on the child’s card.
Your card is honored in over 78 libraries in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Passaic Counties that are part of the Bergen County Library System (BCCLS).
You must present your card, a digital representation of your card, or your ID to borrow library materials.
Your card is valid for three years. We will alert you when your account is nearing expiration. To renew your card, bring proof of address to the Oradell Public Library or any library in BCCLS. Renewing your card is free.
In order to keep our records up-to-date please let us know if you change your name, address, phone number or email. Contact us immediately if your card is lost or stolen. Lost cards may be replaced for $3.00.
You may apply for a library card at https://catalog.bccls.org/polaris/patronaccount/selfregister.aspx?ctx=104 or in person. A link to applying for a library card on line is also on the BCCLS home page (http://www.bccls.org/).
If you decide to apply online, inform us of that when you come in and please bring your proof of residency.
